Since 1978
One family, one stretch of beach, and a gap in the middle that we are not going to hide.
We opened, we left, we came back.
A lot of places on this coast claim an unbroken line back to some romantic year. Ours is not unbroken, and the break is the most interesting part.
-
1978
The restaurant opens on this spot on the beachfront — one of the first in Kardamena. At that point the village is barely a resort at all.
-
The eighties and nineties
Two decades of summers. The same regulars, the same tables, watching the village grow up around us.
-
2004
The family moved to Athens and ran a fish taverna in Voula. Faros closes. It is not sold and it is not forgotten — but for 9 years, somebody else has the summers here.
-
2013
The family comes back to Kardamena and reopens, picking up where it stopped: the same beach, the same kind of cooking, the same idea of what a day by the sea should cost.

Today
Still family-run, 48 years after the doors first opened. Still the first restaurant on the main beach — with a long pause in the middle that we would rather explain than pretend away.
Nobody chose this spot by accident.
Coming back to a restaurant after 9 years away is a decision, not an inheritance. It is the reason somebody from the family is here at seven in the morning setting out the beds, and still here when the last table leaves.
You will usually meet one of them while you eat. That is the whole point.
You will meet them.
They are behind the bar most nights. If you want to know what the fish is, what is worth ordering or where the good beach is further along, ask.
Reviews here name the staff more often than the dishes. That is not an accident, and it is the part of this place we would defend hardest.
